Allens celebrate 60 years
Robert and Elizabeth (Rapole) Allen of Franklin celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 22, 2012. The couple met in 1950 at the Franklin Neighborhood House and were married in 1952 at the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Stephen Dabkowski.
Their wedding reception was held at The Village Inn, now the TD Bank on Route 23. When the restaurant was being torn down, Betty Allen went over and asked for the stained glass as a keepsake. She later donated that to the owners of The Irish Cottage Inn as they were remodeling the former bowling alley for a restaurant, where it now graces the entranceway.
The Allens say they are most proud of their four children and their spouses: Diane and Howard Rose, Patti and Thomas Clark, Robert and Marianne Allen and Jacqueline and Joseph Accetta. They have seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Kevin and Ben Rose, Jessica and Robert Clark and Bob and Emily Allen.
A family celebration in honor of their anniversary is planned for later this summer.
