Essay contest for Vernon teens
VERNON — The Vernon Coalition is conducting an essay contest open to all sophomore through senior year Vernon high school students to attend The Lindsey Meyer Teen Institute Leadership Conference at Camp Mason from Aug. 20 to 24.
This five-day youth leadership training gives teens an opportunity to interact with others their age as well as local and national presenters. They will be taught tools and given information to help develop and implement peer focused prevention strategies with the goal of becoming empowered to create change in their school and community.
To enter, Vernon teens can send an essay of 200 words or less to gemma@centerforprevention.org explaining why The Vernon Coalition should select them to attend this camp, which normally would cost $500 for the week.
The Vernon Coalition will select two winners who will attend the conference at no cost.
Essays should be submitted before July 14.
