Gardeners can enter beauty contest

Vernon — Entries are now being accepted for Heaven Hill Farm's annual Most Beautiful Garden Contest, which offers prizes and honors to inspired and dedicated gardeners.

“There’s no need to be an expert in the field to enter The Most Beautiful Garden Contest here at Heaven Hill. You just need to love digging in the dirt, planting what you like and showing off all of your hard work,” says Martin Theobald, owner of Heaven Hill Farm. “Feature something dramatic like a fountain or statue and watch your garden grow to winning stature,” suggests Theobald.

“A plot of land in any shape and size can be transformed into something amazing and unexpected with a creative eye and a reverence for digging says Heaven Hill's outdoor lifestyles manager, Phyllis Emmerich. “Get rooted, get growing and get winning,” urges Emmerich.

How to enter
Most Beautiful Garden Contest photo entries will be accepted through July 31 and will be displayed at Heaven Hill Farm to be voted on by garden center customers. Photos must be 4-by-6-inch color shots of any uniquely beautiful home garden. Only two photos will be accepted per gardener.

Voting takes place from Aug. 1 through 12. Winning entries will be announced during the week of Aug. 13. The Most Beautiful Garden Contest winners will receive a gift certificate to Heaven Hill Farm in the following denominations:

First place: $100
Second place: $50

Third place: $25
