Understandable. I don’t have any photos though of the event with someone driving a car. But the event happens annually at our Open House and this year it was on June 3rd. The same two people, Lois Brady and Steve (I don’t know his last name if you need to use it, but I can find out if you need), have been manning their booth with us for many years now and we enjoy their wonderful support each year. It’s a great program for schools to raise money since it costs us nothing. We made $1250.

I will work on a letter to the editor.

Thanks so much,
Deb

Hi Debra,
Nice to hear from you!

That’s good news for your school, of course, but I cannot join in the photo shoot.

For one thing I don’t have the manpower to send someone but for another, I have a policy against printing check passing photos. I don’t believe that they attract readers to stop and find out what’s going on, like, say a photo of a child with a puppy in school, or kids learning to put together a newspaper.

Instead, I would be happy run a little story on the fundraiser and how much money you were able to get as a result.

When was your open house and how many people turned out to test drive?

You can send me a photo, if you want, that you may have taken of someone at your school test driving a car.

And you can also send a letter to the editor expressing all that you feel about it and I will be happy to run it in both of my papers, with your signature.

Best,
Beth

Hi Beth,
I hope your summer has been wonderful! I have another story for you – a short one that Barb Grey thought you should send a reporter to. I’m meeting with Kevin at Franklin Sussex Auto Mall next Tuesday at 1 PM to receive a check they are presenting to me for $1250 for the Drive For the Kids fundraiser that Chrylser-Dodge does for us each year at our Open House (I can share details if you want later). He is having the NJ Herald coming to take pics and write an article and Barb thought that Straus should be included as well. It’s good press for both of our businesses and it’s a good community story.

Let me know if you are interested in sending someone down there next week.

Thanks,
Debra Smorto
