SUSSEX COUNTY — In their ongoing efforts to reward current and future educators the Sussex County School Administrators and Supervisors annually recognize a school leader and students who plan to pursue education careers.
This year Michael Ryder, Ogdensburg School's assistant principal, received the Dale Reinhardt Excellence in Education Award, given to a school leader for dedication to children and counsel and support of fellow educators. The award was named for Dale Reinhardt, former Sussex County superintendent, "a champion of education and children."
Ryder received his award from the 2011 honoree, Rosemary Gebhardt, principal of Glen Meadow Middle School in Vernon.
Three students who plan to pursue a career in education are also honored by the county education group, with scholarships to help them follow their dreams.
This year's recipients were Elena Melekos from Sussex County Technical School, Rachel Walton from High Point Regional High School and Melissa Calascibetta from Kittatinny Regional High School.
