Rotten tomato fight Saturday
Bring goggles and a rain slicker to the Tomato Hoedown at Sunset View Farm
ANDOVER — It's all about tomatoes on Saturday, July 28, when between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunset View Farm will hold a Tomato Hoedown.
While there will be food, music, workshops, classes and shopping, a highlight of the day will be the rotten tomato fight. That's open to anyone with a taste for the unusual. Tomato fighters will be contributing to the composting effort at the farm and are advised to bring goggles and a rain slicker or large plastic bag to protect their clothes.
A raw food demonstration and a class on tomato canning will also be held. Visitors will be able to see all of the right canning equipment so they will know what to do when their own crops are in. A large variety of tomatoes will be available for purchase as well.
A soap making class will be held. This is an opportunity to see how to make one's own personal brand of soap.
Children can hike through a nature trail and labyrinth while adults will be able to tour the Community Garden and CSA.
There will be Country music playing along with square dancing lessons. Cowboy boots and hats are recommended but not necessary.
Vendors will be on site; anyone who makes country or farm crafts or sells any farm or garden goods can contact Sandy at 973-875-2068 for vendor information. Applications are also online at www.vendor-finders.com/applications.html.
