HARDYSTON — Wallkill Valley High held its second annual Hall of Fame and Athletic awards banquet at Crystal Springs recently to honor the school's current and past outstanding athletes.

The program is the brain child of Wallkill High's athletic director, Todd Van Orden. Each sport names an MVP and a coach's award winner in addition to various other awards.

This year the male athlete of the year was Owen Law, a three-sport standout in soccer, basketball and baseball. Female athlete of the year went to Brittany Harlos, who earned 12 varsity letters in field hockey, basketball and track. Twelve letters means she was a varsity award winner in every sport every year of her four years.

Shane Brown was honored as Wallkill Valley's United Way Scholar-Athlete nominee.

Former Hopatcong High School standout and former US Olympic Trials javelin champion Bobby Smith was the guest speaker for the June 4 event held at Crystal Springs Country Club.
