  • Jordana Mross, a fifth-grader at Hamburg School, is crowned the winner in the homemade division of the Favorite Doll Look Alike contest at the Sussex County Fair. Her grandmother Elaine Balogh of Hampton, designed and created the winning outfit with a patriotic theme.

Wearing a patriotic red, white and blue ensemble sewn by her grandmother to match her favorite doll, Jordana Mross, 10, was crowned first-place winner in the home sewn category at the New Jersey State Fair’s Favorite Doll Look Alike contest. Jordana earned the highest total scores in poise, appearance, likeness to doll and detail to attire.
When asked on stage who creates her handmade dresses and doll clothes, Jordana said: “My Grammy. She makes most of my doll clothes...except she’s not here tonight because she gets more nervous than me!”
The contest is in its third year and averages 20 contestants in two categories, store bought fashions and home sewn. Each contestant is given an impromptu on-stage interview.
The contestants are judged by five local residents, including the Queen of the Fair. Each first-prize winner wins an American Girl doll, and second- and third-place prizes are also given. The contest has been sponsored by C&W Aero Services for three consecutive years, in conjunction with the Home Economics Division of the New Jersey State Fair.
