— The Big Apple Comedy Club returns to the Newton Theatre on Friday, March 15, at 8 p.m. with four New York City comedians: Lenny Marcus, Michele Balan, Maureen Langan and Moody McCarthy.

Originally from Oceanside, N.Y., Marcus has been a stand-up comedian for over 15 years. He is currently a regular performer in every major comedy club in New York City. He’s been on Letterman, Comedy Central, NBC and MTV. Marcus has made multiple appearances on Tru-tv poking fun of the world’s stupidest criminals, shoppers and drivers.

Balan was one of the finalists on NBC's Last Comic Standing, and she was the last woman comic standing. She has appeared on various episodes of Comics Unleashed and The Joy Behar Show and was invited to perform on Jay Leno's Tonight show three times. Voted one of the top 10 comics by Backstage Magazine, Balan is a stand-up comedian with class and attitude. Sometimes the class has to move over for the attitude.

“Laughter brings us together,” she says as she travels the world headlining comedy clubs, theaters, cruises, and corporate events. Balan recently toured with the Smothers Brothers celebrating their 50th anniversary in show biz!

Langan has been a New York City-based stand-up comic for 14 years. Her Irish immigrant mother and garbage man father told her and her five siblings that if they got educated and worked hard life would reward them.

“Life is rewarding Paris Hilton, the Kardashians, and those freaks of The Jersey Shore," she scoffs. "It makes me crazy!”

Langan is a regular at Carolines on Broadway, one of the country’s premiere comedy clubs. She performs at clubs and festivals throughout the United States and the world, including Ireland, Scotland, Canada, New York, Boston, and Nantucket. She’s opened for Joy Behar, Steven Wright, and Rosie O’Donnell.

After appearances on Last Comic Standing and Jimmy Kimmel Live, McCarthy is no longer a well-kept secret. With sharp, versatile material and an old-school ethic, he has performed all over North America and Asia and left them wanting more. He began his career in Syracuse, N.Y., and quickly established himself as a keen monologist. Now based in New York City, he’s become a regular in the town’s best rooms and grown into an act that thrives in any setting, from upscale country clubs to divey pubs. .

Tickets for the Big Apple Comedy Club are $25 for the orchestra and $20 for the balcony. They are on sale at www.thenewtontheatre.com or call the Box Office at 973-383-3700. Newton Theatre is located at 234 Spring Street in Newton, NJ.
