Passion Play reenacted at Immaculate Conception Regional School
FRANKLIN — The seventh grade students of Immaculate Conception Regional School in Franklin continued the honored tradition of presenting the Passion Play on Holy Thursday.
Under the direction of Religion teacher Alice Cunningham and seventh grade advisor Debbie Sowden and with help from some sixth graders, the students reenacted the events of Holy Week for the entire school along with parents and grandparents.
Young students sat transfixed as the older students portrayed the scenes of Jesus washing His Apostle’s feet, the Last Supper, The Garden of Gethsemane, the Way of the Cross, Jesus’ Crucifixion, and His Resurrection.
During the Last Supper, the students “froze” in a living tableau of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting. The Handbell Choir, directed by music teacher Judy Spotto, added to the solemnity of the performance.
