Lipstick rodeo kisses up to southern rock fans
VERNON — Lipstick Rodeo, a sextet of female rockers, will make their U.S. debut at the 4th annual Rock, Ribs & Ridges music and food festival at The Hidden Valley Club in Vernon on June 9.
The all-female band from Montreal, Canada will be recording several firsts at this annual festival which kicks off the summer season — they will be the festival’s first-ever female group and the first performers from Canada.
“Lipstick Rodeo is a truly unique addition to our rough and tumble manly lineup,” said Festival Executive Producer Howard Freeman. “We’re excited to introduce these new artists who are sure to help us fire up the mountain as we kick off everyone’s summer with a full weekend of great music and great food.”
Presented by Franklin Sussex Auto Mall, Rock, Ribs & Ridges features two full days of Southern rock and Southern cooking. Headliners include the legendary Charlie Daniels, The Marshall Tucker Band and The Outlaws performing over the June 8 to 9 weekend.
Lipstick Rodeo blends traditional and contemporary music and performs the best of country-rock classics from artists such as Shania Twain, Brooks and Dunn, Emmylou Harris, Sugarland, Alan Jackson and Gretchen Wilson.
Lipstick Rodeo is comprised of Gabriella Laberge (violin), Isabelle Dussault (guitar), Marie-Philippe Thibault-Desbien (bass guitar), Lacoste Navy (keyboards), Myra Camirand (drums) and Amelie Hall (lead vocals).
Nine bands will perform over the two days with top regional chefs who will also be competing for thousands of dollars in prize money in a juried rib cook-off.
Chumley’s BBQ & Catering Company (Florida, N.Y.), Three Men and a Baby Back (Bergen County, N.J.) and Texas Smoke BBQ (Jefferson, N.J.) will be among those competing for the coveted titles of “Best Ribs,” “Best Sauce,” and “People’s Choice.”
