Art exhibit will feature 74 pieces
NEWTON — The Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council’s 26th Annual Skylands Juried Art Exhibit is Saturday, April 27 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council’s annual Skylands exhibit has become a benchmark for quality art shows in the New Jersey highlands. All artists 18 years of age or older are invited to submit entries, and all media are accepted. This year the 74 works of art were selected from over 200 entries by artists in the tri-state area and beyond and cash prizes total $3,000 through supporters of the council.
The juror is selected by a committee of experienced artists and professionals. This year Lydia Viscardi, a mixed media artist whose award-winning work is frequently on exhibition, was chosen.
The gala opening reception will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. and will include champagne/wine, with hors d’oeuvres sponsored by Thorlabs and catered by Perona Farms. Entertainment will feature professional flutist Melinda McCoy-Miller.
The reception serves as a major fundraiser for the council. Awards will be presented at 5:30.
Tickets are $25 at the door. You can also call the Council at 973-383-0027 or visit the gallery at 133 Spring Street, Newton.
Hours are Tuesday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The show continues through June 1 and can be viewed during normal hours. Admission to the show is free.
