Harmony in Motion partakes in Annual Retreat

Harmony in Motion, a women’s a cappella chorus based in Sussex County, recently spent a weekend retreat together at St. Mary’s Villa in Sloatsburg, N.Y.

A large majority of their 50 members were involved with intensive voice and performance training beginning on Friday night and ending on Sunday afternoon, April 19 to 21.

Under the direction of singing coach, Lisbet, she helped each chorus member not only find their voice and become stand-alone singers, but also to become better performers for their audiences. She also shared her expertise with Harmony in Motion’s director, Pat Smith, and assistant director, Ruth Perry, in their respective roles with the chorus.

Duponte has decades of coaching and directing experience with women’s a cappella choruses who sing four-part harmony in the barbershop style.

In keeping with the theme of their upcoming big show, “A Fabulous 50’s Reunion”, scheduled for Oct. 6 at Newton High School, they participated in various parodies of music from the 1950’s.

New singers are welcome to join this women’s chorus of all ages. Weekly rehearsals are held each Monday at 7 p.m. at Bristol Glen on Route 206 south of Newton. Women who enjoy singing, performing, and learning about music are invited to come to a rehearsal and experience the fun of this craft.
