The series of articles regarding heroin is a great service in educating the community about a problem of epidemic proportions. Significantly, in the first quarter of 2013, over 50 young people died of heroin overdoses in Ocean County alone. However, the writer reports "residential settings...are few and far between in Sussex County."

Sussex County is home to one of the finest drug and alcohol residential programs in the state. Sunrise House Foundation has served Sussex County and tri-state residents for 30 years who are addicted. Our success is well documented by health insurance companies and the Division of Human Services. Our patients complete their goals at a much higher rate than other facilities and return to treatment at a much lower rate. We have been commended by accreditation agencies and provide treatment for over 200 Sussex County patients per year. Sussex County has many fine treatment organizations providing intensive outpatient, detoxification, and treatment for patients with mental illness and addiction including The Center for Prevention, Newton Medical Center, Sunrise House, Treatment Dynamics, Capitol Care, and Bridgeway.
