Local sibling golf champions to compete in North Carolina

Local Junior Golfer’s wins the Northern New Jersey US Kids Golf Spring Tournament, 2013 which was held June 9 at the Farmstead Golf and Country Club located at 88 Lawrence Road, Lafayette.

Mathew Perry Marcelino, 8, from Hamburg, took home another 3rd consecutive Player of the Year award of 2013, while older sister Erin Kayla Marcelino, 9, a two time champion herself, earned the Player of the Year Award 2013.

Both brother and sister have been invited to play in Pinehurst Resort North Carolina, the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship is the largest and most prestigious event in the world for Junior Golfers 12 years and under.

The three day event held in the settings of the tall southern pines and Donald Ross greens attracts more than 1,200 qualified participants from all over the United States and more than 30 countries send their best junior golfers to the competition, which will be Aug. 1 to 3.
