The Sussex County YMCA will once again collaborate with local schools to host a series of summer youth sports camps.

The Y will offer four sessions geared toward teaching fundamental and progressive skills in tennis, soccer, basketball and lacrosse, at Wallkill Valley Regional High School in Hamburg.

Camps are open to boys and girls entering grades two through nine, and are open to Y members as well as non-members from Wallkill Valley sending districts. Each session will be coached by a high school coach and/or trained Y staff from the respective sport to ensure a safe, healthy environment in which participants will learn strategy, tactics and techniques to improve their game. Each session is five days and the cost is $100 per child per session.

In addition to the summer sports camps offered at Wallkill Valley High School, the Y will host an additional lacrosse camp for boys and girls entering grades two through eight at Newton High School. This camp is being offered through collaboration with the Newton Recreation Department and Newton High School, and is open to the public with no Y membership or residency required. The Newton camp is four days and costs $80 per child.

For those children and teens who are not interested in sports-oriented programs, the Sussex County YMCA also offers a number of summer camp options, including Summer Y Camps and Blue Mountain Day Camp. All of the Y’s Camps are devoted to the promotion of youth development, and include recreational and enrichment activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, archery, and more.
