Pope John XXIII High School announces academic accomplishments

    Pope John XXIII Regional High School announces that 22 students were named Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars, 19 students were named AP Scholars with Honor, 22 students were named AP Scholars with Distinction, and six were named National AP Scholars on the 2012 AP Exams. Additionally, 89 percent of the students taking the AP exams received a score of 3 or higher, 66 percent received scores of 4’s or 5’s, and 69 percent received AP awards.

    The College Board has also recognized twelve students from the Class of 2014 as National Commended Scholars for their outstanding achievement on the PSAT exam taken October 2012.

    They are Evan Barnett, Michael Campbell and Timothy McGovern (Newton); Calleigh Higgins (Ogdensburg); Timothy McCabe and Jeffrey Noble (Flanders); Gabrielle Perretta (Sparta); Jennifer Sanville (Stanhope); Timothy Schanstra (Stockholm); Hannah Sporer (Oak Ridge); Allison Ward, (Lafayette); and Allison Zuckerman (Hackettstown). Ryan Fieldhouse (Sussex) was recognized as a National Merit Semi-Finalist.

    Additionally, the Class of 2013 received more than $31 million in awards, grants and scholarships from colleges, universities, local institutions and non-profit groups. They follow in the footsteps of the classes of 2012 and 2011, who received $26 million and $29 million, respectively.
