Area bowlers earn first place at tournament

The high school-aged bowling team, Team Wallkill + One earned first place in the Class C Handicap division of the 51st Edith A. Kinney annual USBC Youth Championship bowling tournament at Circle Lanes.

The team, which finished with 2,668 total pins, was made up of Wallkill Valley Regional High School bowlers Ryan and Austin Oleksy and Nicole Rotunda, and Joey Steele, a middle school student from Newton.

The Class C Handicap doubles team of Ryan Oleksy and Steele also took first place in their division with a score of 1,416 total pins. Ryan Oleksy bowled his highest game to date, a 254, 122 pins over his average, and a 677 series, his highest to date. He also was awarded special prizes in honor of these accomplishments.

Ryan Oleksy also placed first in the All Events Class C Scratch division with 1,757 total pins.

All winners from the tournament will be notified soon of the date and location for the Annual Year End Banquet where they will receive their trophies.
