Halpin appointed to Highland bank board of directors

Michael Halpin was appointed to the Board of Directors of Highlands Bancorp, Inc. and Highlands State Bank in May.

Halpin joined Skylands Community Bank in May of 1995 as president, chief executive officer and director. The bank signed definitive agreement to sell the bank to Fulton Financial on Feb. 23, 2000.

He was named chairman and CEO in May 2007 after having Somerset Valley merged into Skylands. He retired as CEO in August 2008 and stayed on as chairman until resigning in June 2009. He joined the board at Grand Bank in December 2010 and resigned in December 2013. Currently he serves on the boards of Centenary College and Hackettstown Regional Medical Center.

Prior affiliations include serving on the boards of Dover General Hospital and Northwest Covenant (the merged hospitals of Dover General and St. Claire’s) past president of Morris County Community Bankers, and Community Bankers of New Jersey. Halpin also served on the boards of New Jersey Bankers, New Jersey Savings League and New Jersey Savings Bank. He also served on the boards of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, Hackettstown Chamber of Commerce and its successor Warren County Chamber and the Hackettstown Bid. Halpin was also on the Board of the Morris County Boy Scouts.
