Deluca finishes second year on FDU softball team

    Emma Deluca from Vernon High School was a sophomore utility player for the Fairleigh Dickinson University (Metro New York campus) softball team this spring. Deluca played in 30 games and started in 28 of them for the Knights. Deluca had 10 hits, including a double and scored five runs for FDU.

    The Knights had an overall record of 21-21 and they were 6-5 on their home field. In the Northeast Conference, Fairleigh Dickinson posted a record of 11-5. FDU advanced to the Northeast Conference Tournament where it was defeated by Central Connecticut State and Long Island University-Brooklyn.

    Megan Kelly (Vernon High School) was listed as a junior distance runner for the Georgian Court University (Lakewood) women’s track and field program. Kelly earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Academic Team honors.

    As a freshman player on the Kean University (Union) men’s lacrosse program this spring, Brian Mills from Vernon High School competed in 16 games and recorded three goals and an assist for the Cougars.

    Kean had an overall record of 16-3 and they were 9-1 on their home turf. They went 5-1 in the Skyline Conference. The Cougars advanced to the championship game of the Skyline Conference Tournament where they were defeated by Montclair State in a contest held in Montclair.

    Katie Williams from Wallkill Valley High School was a senior distance runner listed as an Elementary Education/Psychology major for the Rider University (Lawrence) women’s outdoor track and field program. The Broncos placed second at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships.

    Ed Freisinger (Wallkill Valley High School) was a freshman distance runner for the Rowan University (Glassboro) men’s outdoor track-and-field team. Freisinger placed sixth in the 10,000 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships in Ewing. He was named a NJAC Rookie of the Week this spring.

    Brittany Papa (High Point High School) was listed on the roster as a sophomore competitor in multiple events for the Monmouth University (West Long Branch) women’s track and field squad. Papa is a Criminal Justice major.

    Allison Mycek from Vernon High School was on the roster as a freshman distance runner for the Montclair State University women’s track and field program.

    Megan Heintz was a senior member of the Fairleigh Dickinson University (Florham campus) women’s golf team this spring. Heintz is a graduate of Wallkill Valley High School.
