Ruth Minkewicz, 86 years old, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home early Wednesday morning. She was born to Harry and Laura Minkewicz in Kingston, Pa. She resided in her family home, built by her father, in Hasbrouck Heights, N.J., for the majority of her life. After her retirement in the early 90s, she moved to Brick, N.J., to be closer to her brother, Jerry. She then settled in Franklin, N.J. to be cared for by her sister, Maryann, in 2005.

Early on, Ruth worked for Bell Telephone Company and Ford Motors. She retired from a 30+ year career as an office manager at John Crane Industries, a company that invented the first automotive mechanical seal. Ruth was a valued employee at John Crane and made many contributions to the company throughout her career there.

Ruth was a loving and devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was very generous and always took the time to send a card or note with loving words and a small gift to her family and friends. She especially adored and doted on all of the children. She loved to read and especially enjoyed knitting. She was always knitting afghans, socks, scarves, hats, and mittens to gift to someone. She often made baby blankets for any expectant mother she would hear about. She even sent one to former Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter and recieved a thank you letter from him personally. Ruth loved to talk (argue) politics around the dinner table. She had a great sense of humor but also knew how and when to be tough.

Ruth is survived by her sister-in-law Nancy Minkewicz and her many nieces and nephews: Bob, Jim, and Steve Minkewicz; Joel Woltjen; Lisa Maxwell, Leslie Flaum; Andy Minkewicz; Louis and Suzanne Ratti.

The family will receive their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, NJ on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 2-6 p.m. Funeral service to commence at 6 p.m. Cremation will be private. Information and condolences can be found at www.fjohnramseyfuneralhome.com.
