Vernon business owner charged with theft in Franklin

A Vernon business owner is facing charges after Franklin Borough police said he never provided service after receiving a payment from a Franklin homeowner.

Jonahan F. Wecht, 43, of Vernon was charged with theft by deception.

Police said on Nov. 12, 2013, a homeowner in Franklin complained to police that a contractor never provided service after receiving payment. Police said the homeowner allegedly made serveral attempts to contact, the business, "A New Hue Coatings LLC" owner, Wecht, with no success. On July 18, the resident complained to police to make a complaint of theft.

Police said Wecht was taken into custody on Monday, July 21 without incident.

According to police, Wecht is alleged to have taken $1,000 and fail to provide a service to the home owner in Franklin. Wecht was released pending an appearance in Sussex County Superior Court.
