The Ogdensburg Board of Education discussed the status of security upgrades at the school at its July 15 meeting.

The front and the back of the breezeway are being upgraded. The upgrade for the breezeway will include removing the full glass doors and panels. They will be replaced with heavier doors and panels for more protection and security.

The glass will stay in the upper area of the breezeway. This entrance will only be used for the staff and the students.

There will be a new front-door entry. The new entrance was originally the front entrance of the original school. The visitors will have to be buzzed in from the outside of a secured entrance.

Visitors can communicate with the staff through a secured glass window and let the staff know the reason for their visit. A second buzzer will be installed in order for the staff to allow visitors through the secured area. These two important security upgrades were discussed with the Sussex County Sheriff’s department and the Ogdensburg police chief.

    Security contractors were also consulted.
