College sports wrap-up

    Jared Musilli (High Point High School) was a junior outfielder on the roster of the Susquehanna University (Selinsgrove, Pa.) baseball team this year. Musilli started in 41 games and had a .285 batting average, including 39 hits, two doubles and a home run. He also had 20 RBIs and scored 20 runs.

    The Crusaders had an overall record of 20-18, with a 15-3 home record. In the Landmark Conference, they posted a record of 13-5. They won the Landmark Championship with a 5-3 victory over Keystone College in the championship game. From there, they advanced to the NCAA Division III Regionals where they ultimately lost to Wesleyan College (Connecticut).

    Taking a glance at other local student-athlete’s who competed in collegiate sports this past spring season.

    Ally Bicskei (Vernon High School) was a senior attacker on the roster of the Wilkes University (Wilkes Barre, Pa.) women’s lacrosse program this spring. Bicskei played in 15 games and started in 14 of them for Wilkes. She tallied seven goals and recorded an assist.

    Wilkes had an overall mark of 13-3 and they were 5-1 at home. In the Freedom Conference, they went 4-2. They advanced to the finals of the Freedom Conference Tournament where they lost to Arcadia University.

    Ryan Conklin (High Point High School) was a sophomore pitcher on the roster of The College of New Jersey’s (Ewing) baseball team this past season. Conklin had a 1-1 record on the mound.

    The Lions had an overall record 20-18 and they were 9-6 on their home field. In the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) they had a mark of 8-10. They advanced to the NJAC Tournament where they were defeated by Rowan University and William Paterson University.

    Brandon Ramage from Wallkill Valley High School was a sophomore on the roster of the Delaware Valley College (Doylestown, Pa.) men’s golf team this spring.

    Delaware Valley placed eighth at the Freedom Conference Championships held at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa.

    James Corti (Wallkill Valley High School) was a freshman on the roster of the Dickinson College (Carlisle, Pa.) men’s track and field program this spring. Corti placed fifth in the 5,000 at the Dickinson College Twilight Meet. He also placed fifth in the 10,000 at the Paul Kaiser Classic in Shippensburg, Pa.

    The Red Devils placed second as a team at the Dickinson Twilight Invitational.

    Connor McHugh from High Point High school was on the roster as a freshman for the Shippensburg University (Pa.) men’s outdoor track and field team. McHugh placed second in the pole vault at the Dickinson College Twilight Meet. He took seventh in the pole vault at the Paul Kaiser Invitational.
