A 25 year old Hackettstown man, Shane P. Corrigan, was arrested on Aug. 13 after a multijurisdictional investigation following a shoplifting incident.

Corrigan shoplifted approximately $1,900 worth of Apple Ipod merchandise after breaking into a locked cabinet at the Walmart on Route 23 in Franklin Borough where the merchandise was displayed for sale.

Corrigan made two separate trips into the store during the event to remove merchandise from the retailer. Franklin Police Detective Robert Vander Ploeg investigated the incident as soon as the event was brought to the agency’s attention on Aug. 12.

Once Corrigan and his vehicle were positively identified with assistance from Hackettstown Police and Mansfield Twp. Police, Corrigan was ultimately taken into custody by Hackettstown Police and turned over to Det. Vander Ploeg. Corrigan was lodged in Sussex County Jail on $20,000 bail with no 10 percent option.

The complaints that were filed are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
