ZDC 3-time Challenge of Champion winners

Ziegler Dance Centre’s Z Dance Troupe recently attended On Stage America Nationals in Cape May Court. The troupe received many high scores and judge’s awards for their 70 numbers that competed.

Highlights from the week
ZDC’s teen musical theatre production “Matilda - The Revolt” was chosen for the “Challenge of Champions”, which is the highest scoring group dance from each studio re-competes for the ultimate win.

“Matilda - The Revolt” won the “Challenge” and are OSA’s 1st Place National Champion Winners for the third year in a row.

Soloist Reese Decker, of Hamburg, won first runner up for Junior Mr. On Stage America with his hip hop solo “Bet on It”.

Matthew Losco, of Vernon, won second runner up Mr. On Stage America for his jazz solo “You Really Got Me” in the teen division.

Emily Moreno of Vernon was awarded “The Broadway Bound Award” out of all 13 and over dancers.

Tap trio dance “Use Somebody” performed by Gabrielle Conte of Franklin, Ashley Papa of Fredon, Emily Tanis of Vernon, won third overall in the Senior Division.

Petite Jazz Small Group “Walk Like an Egyptian” won third overall; while petite hip hop large group “Saaweeet” won third overall in their division.

Junior Jazz Large Group “Wings” won fourth overall in their division as well as represented ZDC in the Junior Challenge of Champions.

Finally, ZDC was awarded the “Achievement Award” for overall technique, choreography and performance from a studio. The troupe is under direction of Peggy Ziegler, Renee Ziegler-Schmidt, Doreen Ziegler, and Bonnie Sybesma.
