The group of golfers on Thursday, Aug. 21, at Ballyowen's 9 and Dine event ranged from 15 to 80 years old, representing a father and son, husbands and wives and one group using the occasion to celebrate a BIG birthday of one of their foursome.

The youngest golfer, Andrew Kibitlewski, played in a foursome with his father, Ron and two ski buddies Buffy and John Whiting. The oldest golfer, J.B. Robertson played in a foursome with his wife and two friends who were helping him celebrate his 80th birthday.

In this event, two teams ended up with the same 3-under-par 69 score creating a tie, which had to be broken by a match of score cards to determine which team had the best score on the most difficult golf hole. The match of cards resulted in the decision that the team from Vernon made up of Ron and son Andrew Kibitlewski and Buffy and John Whiting were the event winners.

Prizes were also given for the top performers in the longest drive and closest to the pin skill events. The men’s longest drive winner was Ron Kibitlewski who gave his prize to his son Andrew. The lady’s long drive winner, Claire Groeber also was the winner of the closes to the pin competition winning two prizes.

Nine & Dine events are hosted by the Crystal Springs Golf Resort at both the Ballyowen Golf Club on Thursday and at the Black Bear Golf Club on Friday evenings with tee times scheduled for late afternoon. The events feature a four-person team scramble format that makes it possible for some of the less qualified golfers to compete.
