Steven W. Averett, 27, of Hopatcong, pleaded guilty to the fourth degree crime of making a false statement to a law enforcement officer, driving while suspended, driving without insurance and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 12.
Averett admitted that on Feb. 3 he lied to the Hopatcong Police Department about his motor vehicle and whether it had been stolen.
Mario J. Alcamo, 28, of Netcong, pleaded guilty to the fourth degree crime of possession of a device to defraud a drug test.
Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 12.
Alcamo admitted to possessing a Visine bottle with urine belonging to another person in order to pass a drug test administered as a condition of parole. This occurred in Newton on March 5.
John Lyons, 24, of Sussex, pleaded guilty to the fourth degree crime of resisting arrest by flight, speeding and driving while suspended.
Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 19.
Lyons admitted that on June 12 he took steps to try to avoid being arrested by New Jersey State Police Trooper Jacinto for driving while suspended.
Douglas Scherr, 33, of Mount Olive, pleaded guilty to theft, a third degree crime, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, a fourth degree crime, and contempt, a disorderly persons offense. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 12.
July 24
Thomas G. Varela, 31, of Sussex, was sentenced to three years in state prison with credit for
155 days already served.
He must also pay $280 in fines and fees, and $17,172 in restitution to the victim - joint and several with co-defendants.
Varela pleaded guilty on June 16, to third-degree burglary.
In October of 2013, the defendant and several co-defendants broke into a Sussex home, taking various items from the home and boxing up other items to return and get at a later time.
July 25
Martino Poli, 33, of Stanhope, was sentenced to two years of probation, 60 days SLAP, two days credit for time served and $3,505 in fines.
Poli pleaded guilty on June 16 to two counts of third-degree distribution of cocaine and one count of third-degree possession of M.D.M.A.
He admitted that on Nov. 26, 2013 and on Dec. 3, 2013 in the Township of Andover, he distributed cocaine to an individual cooperating with the Sussex County Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force. He also admitted that on Dec. 9, 2013, in the Township of Andover at the time of his arrest, he possessed M.D.M.A.
Connar J. MacDonald, 22, formerly of Sparta, was sentenced to one year of probation to run concurrently to a probationary term he is currently serving in Roxbury Township.
He was ordered to continue participation in AA/NA, pay total fines and penalties of $1205 and submit a DNA sample at his expense.
Probation supervision will be transferred to the state of Florida where the defendant currently
resides.
MacDonald pleaded guilty on June 9 to possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third degree crime, and to the motor vehicle offense of failure to maintain lamps.
In pleading guilty, MacDonald admitted to possessing a small amount of heroin on April 14, 2013 during the course of a motor vehicle stop.
Anthony J. Wilson, 23, of Newton was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in state prison under the No Early Release Act, 632 days credit for time served in jail, pay $205 in court fines and $174 in restitution.
He pleaded guilty on June 9 to the second-degree crime of robbery, inflicting bodily injury to victim Irvin Gonzalez.
Wilson admitted that on Oct. 30, 20112, he and his codefendant Michael Paul Sliker entered an apartment complex, robbed and assaulted the victim who was repairing a sump pump. The matter was investigated by the Newton Police Department.
