Golf can be played by competitors of all ages as was demonstrated at the Fifth Annual Crystal Springs Sussex County Long Drive Championship, which attracted qualifiers who ranged in age from 9 to over 60 years of age.

The golfers who had qualified in a qualifying event held at the Black Bear Golf Club beginning in July, were contending for the championship in each of six divisions; Men’s Overall, Women’s Overall, Men’s over 50, Women’s Over 50, Men’s Junior and Women’s Junior.

The top performer in the event and repeat overall champion was Rob Mack with a long drive of 319 yards, 2 yards farther than last year’s winning drive of 317. Lisa Roth was crowned the top overall women’s champion with a winning drive of 213 yards.

Ralph Jones was the winner of the men’s Over 50 Division with a long drive of 284 yards with Michelle Quinn taking the win for the ladies with a drive of 247. Matt Dickson was the Men’s Junior division champion with a drive of 272 while Paytan Grevesen’s drive of 141 earned her the win for the Women’s Junior division.

Prizes for the top performers included free rounds of golf at the resort’s golf courses and the top performer was given a 7-Star Membership to the Crystal Springs Golf Resort for 2015 golf season.
