Local band, The Rum Boogie Band, opens for John Mayall

The Rum Boogie Band and John Mayall, a rhythm & blues band, will be performing at 7 p.m. on Sept. 23 at The Stanhope House in Stanhope. Tickets are $40.

The band organized in November, 2007 as the brainchild of lead guitarist, Kit Driscoll, a music teacher in Vernon. Kit, joined by vocalist Jennifer Sisco also of Vernon, bassist Rich Tucker of Oak Ridge, keyboardist Chuck Hatfield of Mountain Lakes and drummer Mike Spoer, of Newton play a mixture of blues, soul, and R&B in addition to original music. They perform regularly across northern New Jersey, New York and eastern Pennsylvania.

John Mayall's Bluesbreakers once featured Eric Clapton just prior to Clapton creating the band Cream. Also performing with Mayall in their early careers: Peter Green, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood became Fleetwood Mac along with Andy Fraser formed Free, and Mick Taylor joining the Rolling Stones.
