The New Jersey Tap Ensemble will celebrate their 20 year anniversary with a special performance at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. The show will feature a group of accomplished professional tap dancers.

These dancers have been seen on "Dancing with the Stars," at Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, Riverdance and Boardwalk Empire. This is a special one time only performance and all dance students and tap enthusiasts are invited to attend.

Three area students, Robert and Madysen Piper of Hamburg, and Elizabeth Henning of Sparta will also perform. They are members of NJTAP 2, the youth company of the ensemble who are mentored by the professional dancers. This challenging program is for dancers focused on tap. Students are selected through open audition and are from studios and communities throughout the state.

NJTAP is New Jersey’s first nonprofit tap company and was founded by award winning artistic director Deborah Mitchell. The company has been performing throughout the state, and the tri-state area in performing art centers, theaters, communities and mentoring students for 20 years.

The show includes song and dance appropriate for all ages. For tickets call the box office at 973-539-8008. All seats are reserved. Tickets are $40 adult and $25 students and seniors. A limited number of premium tickets are available for $75 which includes preferred seating, an anniversary t-shirt, and a champagne reception with the performers after the show.
