Lanza joins Netwon Medical Center foundation board

    Michael H. Lanza, executive vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer of Selective Insurance Company of America, has been appointed to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Newton Medical Center Foundation.

    “I am pleased to join the Foundation Board of Trustees,” Lanza said. “Newton Medical Center plays an important role in our community providing comprehensive health care, and Selective has long supported its mission.”

    Lanza joined Selective in 2004 as senior vice president and general counsel, and was promoted to his current role in October 2007. Previously a corporate adviser and consultant, he also served as executive vice president and corporate secretary of QuadraMed Corporation, a health care information technology company in California. Prior to QuadraMed, Mr. Lanza was an assistant general counsel at CIGNA Corporation, where his responsibilities included state government affairs, health care compliance and international matters.

    Lanza is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is admitted to the Connecticut Bar and the New Jersey In-House Counsel Bar. He also is a member of the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals and the National Investor Relations Institute.
