This summer a contingent of Franklin Boy Scout Troop 90 attended summer camp at Scout Camp Allamuchy for an entire week.

During the week, the boys worked on various merit badges as well as camp wide activities. The younger boys in the troop worked on their Dan Beard requirements which helped them achieve their first rank advancement. Many of the boys also participated in the ATV course, where they were taught safety and the weeklong course culminated in several hour long off terrain rides around the lake and trails through the woods of the camp.

The boys participated in Canoe Wars against all the other troops in the camp. The game object was to sink each other’s canoe. Troop 90 won this competition.

We had a dessert cooking contest at each site with a Galactic Space theme. Our troop made “flying smorcers” which was a giant smore sandwiched between two graham cracker pie tins, hence the silver pie tins was the saucer element.

There was a campwide game where the troops went to 6-8 different locations and played games organized by the camp staff. On Friday, the trooop went down to the main Pavilion where there was a campfire and a closing ceremony

Thursday the troop was the color guard for the closing ceremony, where five boys from the troop lowered the flags and folded them.

Before breakfast and dinner the troop participated in opening and closing flag ceremonies.
