Local Girl Scout completes Silver Award project

Hope Inglis from Franklin Girl Scout Troop 897 recently completed her Silver Award Project.

The Silver Award is the highest award that a Cadette Girl Scout can earn. It requires 50 or more hours of service. Inglis decided to do a project for young moms and their babies, by making them warm and cuddly quilts and hats.

"The hats I made were done on a loom, the blankets were quilted by machine out of flannel so they are warm & cozy," she said.

The quilts were labor intensive because she had to shop for fabric, cut it out and then sew. Our Troop is part of the Wallkill Valley Service Unit.
