Franklin Troop 90 traveled to Boston to tour the historic Freedom Trail.

During the trip, the boys took mass transit into Boston and hiked the Freedom Trail, which consisted of more than 16 historic sites, including a tour of Paul Revere’s house, the site of the Boston Massacre, the Old North Church, where Paul Revere hung the famous lanterns to warn the British were coming, and the Bunker Hill monument.

The trooop culminated its Freedom Trail tour by visiting the historic USS Constitution. The hike was 5 miles long and the troop learned much about the Revolutionary War history and how the U.S. won its freedom from the British.

Before going into Boston on Saturday, the group toured the famous Lexington and Concord sites, where the first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired. The troop toured the sites where the war started and learned about significant events during this time as well as important historical figures that were involved with the actions.

The troop arrived Friday afternoon and went directly to Lexington and Concord. Afterward, the troop went to Camp Sayre, where it set up camp. In the morning, the boys cooked breakfast burritos befor ethe hike. They packed a bag lunch for Saturday's hike through Boston.

Both Friday and Saturday night, the troop had a camp fire, where the boys shared stories and played trivial pursuit games. On Saturday night, the troop concluded the campfire with our tradition of “Rose/Bud/Thorn”, where they boys describe what they liked about the campout, did not like about the campout, and what they were looking forward to.
