Jefferson plans Veterans Day observance

Jefferson Township will observe Veterans Day on Saturday, on Nov. 8 at the Veterans Memorial at the Municipal Complex on Weldon Road, starting at 11 a.m.

Mayor Russell Felter will be the master of ceremonies.

The Jefferson Township High School Band will play a medley of Military songs as a prelude to the Observance and a selection of songs throughout the ceremony.

Guest Speakers will be Commander Jack Kane, NJ Dept. Veterans fo Foreign Wars and Commander Mike McCorry, Morris County American Legion. It is expected that a speaker from Picatinny Arsenal will also be present.

George Esso, a member of American Legion Posy 245, a veteran of World War II, will be honored for his 70 years of service to the American Legion.

James B. Flatt and James Ryan of American Legion Post will be honored for thei 50 years of service to the American Legion.

Students from the White Rock and Cozy Lake school will give a performance of patriotic songs.

Refreshments will be served in the Municipal Building after the Observance.
