Hamburg police begin using e-ticket technology

The Hamburg Police Dept. recentlly began using e-ticket technology.

E-ticket will provide the officers a more efficient way to conduct road stops and verify the identity of the vehicle operator. Upon stopping a violator, the operator's driver's license will be swiped into the e-ticket system. The system will quickly verify the operator's information and validity driver's license issued in any of the 50 states.

The violation will then be entered into the system and a summons will be printed out via an onboard printer and handed to violator. This will eliminate confusion as to what the violation is for, fine amount, court date and the issuing officer. The violation is electronically sent to the municipal court eliminating the need for paper copies to be delivered to the court.

There was no upfront cost to the department as the system is paid for on a per ticket cost to GTBM, the supplier of the technology.

Police Director Wayne Yahm said he expects the average time for a motor-vehicle violation road stop to drop due to the efficiency and quickness of the e-ticket system.
