    — The decomposed body of a woman found Thursday afternoon by workers at the former Newton Armory has been identified as 59-year-old Mary P. McCaffrey, formerly of Newton.

According to Police Chief Mike Richards, the skeletal remains were found by several workers conducted surveying work on the property around 2 p.m., located off South Park Drive.

The body has been taken to the Morristown Medical Center for an autopsy.

Next of kin have been notified, according to police.

There is nothing that would indicate there was any foul play at this time, Richards said.

The body was found in a heavily brushy area, according to Richards.

Richards said residents should not be alarmed or concerned and it appears it is an isolated incident.

Anyone with information about McCaffrey is asked to contact the Newton Police Department at 973-383-2525.
