Robert E. 'Bob' Littell

    Senator Robert E. “Bob” Littell, 78, died after a long illness at his home surrounded by his family, on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. Born to the late Senator Alfred B. Littell and Dorothy A. Kershner in Orange, N.J., he was a lifelong resident of Franklin, N.J.

    Bob graduated from Franklin High School and the Hun School in Princeton, N.J., and served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War before being honorably discharged in 1956. Bob served on the Franklin Borough Council from 1963 to 1966. He then served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1968 until 1990 and in the State Senate from 1990 through 2008. Bob followed in the footsteps of his father by serving in the legislature and was also a proud part of the first father-daughter team in the N.J. legislature. Bob was an exempt member of the Franklin Fire Department and he owned and operated Littell’s Gas Service and Littell’s Appliance in Franklin and Sparta, N.J.. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and public servant.

    Bob was predeceased by a brother, Richard Littell (2011) and a sister, Sally Patterson (2011) and was the beloved husband of Virginia “Ginnie” Littell. Devoted father of daughter Alison and her husband, Morgan McHose, of Franklin, N.J., and son, Luke Littell, of Las Vegas, Nev. Loving grandfather of Logan, Grant and Molly McHose. Dear brother of Nancy Wesighan of Franklin, N.J., and Philip Littell of Franklin, N.J.

    The family will receive their friends at the F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main Street, Franklin, N.J., on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Burial will be private.
