New Jersey native Judy Gold will bring her comedic styling and return to her roots with a show at the Stanhope House on Friday.

"Anytime I'm in New Jersey it resonates. I'm a Jersey girl. You can't get it out of you no matter where you go," Gold explained. "I lived in Elizabeth and moved to Clark when I was five so I grew up there. My family came to Perth Amboy in the 1800s so the ties go back. I went to Rutgers. My father went to Rutgers. My brother went to Rutgers so Jersey is always special."

Stand-up
Gold will be performing a stand-up show, which certainly isn't a new experience for her but her act has changed over the course of her career.

"I've been doing it for 30 years and life changes so the act changes," she said. "It's all about the experience you have so the act changes as much as I have and I've changed a lot. I'm recognizable from 30 years ago but it's different because I have kids now and I've just done so much."

Performing career
She may have three decades of stand-up under her belt but Gold has experience in other mediums as well including theater and television.

"I love doing theater actually. I've done two off-Broadway one person shows," said Gold. "Stand-up is where it started though. It's my blood. It's who I am and I always go back to it. That's where I feel most comfortable and safe."

As for what to expect at this show? Gold has one answer.

"People can expect to laugh for an hour and a half. Really, they will just laugh a lot," she said.

Besides this performance, Gold has other things lined up as well.

"I recently did an episode of 'Celebrity Wife Swap' and on the 21st I'm going to be on the 'Today' show with Hoda and Kathie Lee."

The show is for those ages 18 and older. Doors open for the show at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The Stanhope House is located at 45 Main Street in Stanhope.
