Ellen R. Zipco

    Ellen R. Zipco, 98, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at Milford Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center in Milford, Pa. Mrs. Zipco, daughter of the late Louis and Mary Hurta, was born in Oxford, N.J., May 4, 1916. She resided in Franklin for most of her life and also resided in Vernon and Wantage for a short period of time.

    Mrs. Zipco was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales RC Church in Vernon. During WWII she worked making parachutes. She also worked on three different farms in Sussex County, worked for Joseph Tartamela in his baby clothing factory in Hamburg and Morley Shirt Co. in Franklin. Mrs. Zipco worked for Elizabethtown Gas in Newton for many years, Britts Department Store in Newton and later retired from The Playboy Club in Vernon.

    Mrs. Zipco was predeceased by her husband, John S. Zipco Sr., in 1996, son, Stephen Zipco, brothers and sisters; John Hurta, Joseph Hurta, Andrew Hurta, Louis Hurta, Susan Weitz, Anna Thomas, Mary Elchin and Agnes Papp. She is survived by her children, Shirley Zdyrski of Wantage Township and John S. Zipco Jr. of Wilmington, N.C., 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
