| 01 Dec 2014 | 03:15

The professional Centenary Stage Company (CSC) will offer a special Actors Workshop for Adults this winter, beginning Feb 2. The class will be held on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 9 p.m., and will run weekly until April 13.

Centenary Stage Company teaching artist Chris Young will lead the class, with a focus on monologue work, acting techniques and scene study, with special attention to Meisner technique. The class will culminate with applying foundational elements to a selected scene, incorporating the elements explored through structured improvisation.

The registration deadline for the class is Jan. 23. Registration is limited. Tuition for winter session will be $250.

Christopher J. Young has been seen most recently at Centenary Stage in the AEA main-stage productions of “Harvey” and “The Liar.” He is currently onstage in the lead role in “Bluff” at Alliance Repertory Theatre in Summit. Young earned his M.F.A in Acting from The Professional Actor Training Program at Ohio University. While there, Young taught several acting classes, included acting for both majors and non-majors, while also co-teaching “stage combat.”

Young is a past member of the teaching staff of CSC’s Young Performers Workshop summer conservatory, teaching acting, stage combat, voice, Shakespeare and one-act play production. He has also taught a variety of acting and stage combat classes at theatres throughout New Jersey.
