The Musical Box to recreate Genesis show

| 02 Dec 2014 | 01:01

The Musical Box returns to the Newton Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 7 in a performance re-creating the classic Genesis stage show, Selling England By The Pound.

Renowned for their authentic, high-quality reproductions of historic Genesis performances, The Musical Box takes fans along for the ride through a conceptual Genesis concert of the past, to relive a momentous occasion in rock history. As they celebrate the show’s 40th anniversary they will replicate the Genesis masterpiece Selling England By The Pound.

In the early 70s, Genesis’ Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett and Michael Rutherford redefined the concept of a rock concert. Genesis artistry had such a profound impact on its audience that to this day it still enjoys a cult-like following. The Musical Box has been re-enacting Genesis performances as originally presented between 1973 and 1975.

These replicas required exhaustive visual, scenic, audio and musical research even tracking down the original music instruments used at the time. The visual aspect of The Musical Box shows are based on thousands of photos and many amateur films taken at the Genesis concerts, as well as the original slides used by the group during their shows.

The Musical Box is the only group licensed and supported by Genesis and Peter Gabriel and has presented close to 1000 concerts across the world to more than one million spectators, in amphitheaters such as The Royal Albert Hall in London, the Olympia in Paris and the Bell Center in Montreal.
