Franklin school board discusses 2015 agenda

    The Franklin Borough School Board of Education suggested the Board of Education keep its meetings on Monday nights while setting up the district's calendar for 2015.

    Sabo said this has been successful for the past several years. He also has been asked to continue serving on the Board of Directors and to serve as vice chairman of the Sussex County Regional Transportation Cooperative for 2014-15.

    The new Public Address System specifications at th school were made available on Nov. 7 and sealed bids were required to arrive by 11 a.m. Wednesday. Sabo said he hopes to have the results available for the next board meeting, scheduled for Dec. 15.

    The board approved a countract with the Franklin Education Foundation, Inc., and Sodexo Managemenet, Inc. to operate the food and drink concession at a fundraiser for the April 2015 mineral show. The show will be held April 25 and 26.

    Superintendent Thomas Turner requested and the school board approved a 12:30 p.m. early dismissal for Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, to accommodate teacher training.

    The board also approved a sixth-grade field trip to Sussex County Community College for a Japanese Drums presentation and lunch at Yamato Hibachi on Thursday, Dec. 11.

    Some personnel issues were discussed by school board member Jeanine Paszkiel.

    The board of education appointed Holly Solitto as part-time instructional aide for 25 hours per week prorated at $11,144.70 annually. Solitto started Nov. 3 with no medical benefits unless necessary by law.

    William Zschack was appointed as part time instructional aide at an annual salary of $11,144.70 ($12.18/hr.). He started Nov. 3 and will not obtain medical benefits unless the law requires

    Lisa Gallagher was employed as a part-time educational aide for 25 hours per week at an annual salary of $11,144.70. Gallagher began her position on Nov. 24. She will not receive benefits unless necessary by law.

    Jason Perler began as a longterm Substitute for Mrs. Fuzia at $110 per day. He began around Nov. 24, and no medical benefits will be offered unless requested by law.

    Sabrina Sienkiewicz (Mohammed) was approved as a substitute nurse for the 2014-2015 school year. Sienkiewicz will be paid $80 per day.

    Two substitute instructors were hired for the 2014-2015 school year. The teachers are Carolyn Randall and Lisa Sheridan. Their salary will be $80 per day.

    Patrick Vetter was appointed as the band director at the amount of $3,477. Vetter is assigned for the 2014-2015 school year.

    Sharon Searles was hired as a full-time aide and tutor on November 3, 2014.
