Police are investigating numerous reports of vehicles being broken into throughout the borough of Franklin.

In a statement issued by Franklin police, there have been multiple complaints of motor vehicle burglaries in which global positioning units (GPS) were stolen, as well as cash and other valuables.

Franklin Det. Nevin Mattessich said some of the vehicles were broken into and others were left unlocked.

The break-ins occurred on the southern end of the borough in the area of Hillside Estates, Mattessich said.

Police are asking residents to lock their vehicles and set alarms. Residents are advised not to leave valuables in their vehicles overnight. Vehicles should be left in well-lit areas if possible, police say.
