Ogdensburg school board makes appointments

    The Ogdensburg School Board of Education made several appointnment at its meeting on Thursday, Dec. 4.

    Tammy Mongon’s appointment was amended, as she will be instructing grade 5/6 at Step 7 at an annual salary of $53,760 to be pro-rated effective Jan. 5, 2015 ($32,256), on an emergent basis if needed.

    The Board of Education agreed to increase the homework club from two hours per week to 3 hours per week for 30 weeks. Teachers Deidre Cook and gail Stag will be paid $29 per hour, but their salary cannot exceed $2,610 for the 2014-15 school year.

    The professional development workshops for Leanne Paolazzi were approved by the Ogdensburg Board of Education. Interim Superintendent/Principal Ernest Palestis recommended these workshops. Paolazzi attended Student Discipline under IDEA/Section 504 in New Providence at a cost of $185.

    The school bboard approved Elia Yurchak and Kristen Brown as para-professionals at a salary of $13.47 per hour at a maximum for 2014-15 school year.

    John Fierro was appointed as a boys' basketball coach at a stipend of $2,492 for 2015 and KIristen Brown was approved as an assistant for $1,993. They will function on an as-needed basis if required.

    Dominick Demsck and Heather McDevitt as substitute teachers for the 2014/2015 school year. Demsck and McDevitt at $75 per day with employment on an as needed basis.

    Assistant Principal Stephanie Bonaparte will be reimbursed for graduate courses. She will attend William Paterson at the graduate rate, not to exceed 9 credits per school year beginning 2014-15 school year.

    The school board approved several class trips.

    The third grade will go to Pequest Fish Hatchery in Oxford on an undetermined date.

    The third grade will be going to Shop Rite in Franklin on June 9, 2015, for their class trip.

    Fifth grade will visit the Meadowlands Environment Center on May 29, 2015.

    The seventh grade will go to Fairview Lakes YMCA Camp on June 8, 2015.

    Nina Sutera attended her last Board of Education meeting as a member on Thursday as she finished fourth in the voting during the Nov. 4 general eelection.

    Since the bear is the Ogdensburg Elementary School mascot, Sutera was given a chocolate bear from the Board of Education. Sutera spoke about how she loved working with the staff, the teachers, the students and the Board of Education.

    The Ogdensburg Board of Education presented Lynne Pederson and Stacy Walsh their certificates for winning the election.
