Barbara Wood

Barbara Wood, 67, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at Forest Manor Health Care in Frelinghuysen Twp. Barbara was born June 18, 1947, in Sussex to Vernon and Berchie (Williams) Wood.

She graduated from Sussex High School in 1966 and later from Dover Business College and attended Morris County Community College. She had been a resident of Hardyston Twp. since 1983.

Barbara worked at Picatinny Arsenal for 34 years. Her first love was horses and from an early age, she was buying and selling horses and ponies. She was the owner and operator of Briarwood Stables in Hamburg. After retirement from Picatinny, she continued to buy and sell cattle, sheep and goats. She loved gardening, especially flowers.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, longtime companion Leon Kingdon and her brother David Wood. She is survived by her great aunt Pearl Wood of Frankford Twp.

There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Wantage Animal Shelter, Compassionate Care Hospice or Barbara’s family at P.O. box 211 Hamburg, NJ 07419.
