Hamburg man charged after probe into snow plow theft

A Hamburg man faces charges after borough police investigated a stolen snow plow from the Delta gas station on route 23 on Monday, Dec. 22.

John Farrell, 20, was charged with receiving stolen property, a crime of the third-degree on Friday, Jan. 23.

He was initially processed and released on a complaint summons pending a future court date.

Police said an additional investigation revealed Farrell allegedly instructed a witness involved in the initial investigation to provide an alibi for Ferrell's actions. Farrell allegedly instructed the witness to lie to Hamburg police and provide ficticious information in ana attempt to deceive police regarding hhis involvement with the stolen snow plow.

He was charged on Thursday, Jan. 29, with witness tampering, a crime of the third degree.

He was sent to the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
