    David Kulig of Wild Acres, Dingmans Ferry, lost his years-long battle with COPD/emphysema on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Newton Hospital in NJ. He was 76.

    He was a 15-year lung cancer survivor.

    Son of Paul Kulig and Pauline Engel Coughlin, he was born in New Bedford, Mass., on April 30, 1938. Both parents preceded him in death, as did his only sibling, Meredith Britto, and her only son, Kevin Britto.

    After graduating high school, he served in the Army National Guard from 1956 to 1964 in Massachusetts, moving to New Jersey in 1963 and becoming an auto mechanic. He remained in the automobile service industry for the rest of his life, as everything from a service director to warranty administrator. He received his associates degree in business from Morris County College. He loved carpentry, gardening and tiling and surrounded his wife with a wonderful home of built0ins and creative touches that she designed. Their passion was traveling, and they created wonderful memories wherever they went.

    Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Diane Jones Martin Kulig; four children from previous marriages, Kathi Dickerson of Rockaway, N.J.; Paul Kulig of Highland Lakes, N.J.; Paula Kulig of Denville, N.J.; and Marsha Sanderson of Lake Hopatcong, N.J.; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

    He served first as a member and then as chairman of the board of directors of Wild Acres property owners association and was a member of the American Legion of Milford.

    As per his request, no services will be conducted.
