Peters Valley School of Craft announces a solo exhibition of work by metalsmith Raychel Wengenroth in the Sally D. Francisco Gallery.

“Raychel Wengenroth: The Spark That Still Ignites” will be on display from Feb. 21 through March 29. An opening reception will be held Saturday, Feb. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m., with an Artist’s Talk at 5:30 p.m. Both are free and open to the public.

Raychel has completed commissions for Oprah, DuPont and the Bob Hope “Humana Award”, among others, but her interest in and journey to becoming a metalsmith began at Peters Valley 40 years ago. A spark was ignited when she visited the campus with her parents at age 14 and saw the array of handmade jewelry that the Gallery offered. She still wears the bracelet that was purchased for her on that life-changing day. Her first ever Basic Jewelry workshop was taken at Peters Valley the following year. These days she returns to Peters Valley to teach workshops and continue the tradition of enriching people’s lives through the learning, practice and appreciation of the art of fine craft.

Peters Valley invites the public to attend this fabulous exhibition, outlining Raychel’s artistic journey.

Raychel received a BFA in Gold & Silversmithing from SUNY New Paltz. Upon her graduation, she and a partner opened a wholesale jewelry and giftware business which they maintained for many years. Raychel teaches at numerous venues in the Northeast including Peters Valley. Her work has been exhibited nationally since 1982 in juried and invitation shows, receiving awards and has been auctioned at Christie’s in NYC.
